Where do my steps come from?

Kai Moves uses your iPhone’s Motion & Fitness step count. You need a supported device, permission and your phone with you for it to measure your walking. It does not require a Health account or promise Apple Watch aggregation. Missing sensor data is not replaced with sample steps.

Why is an older day missing?

The iPhone pedometer only makes the most recent seven days retrievable. Kai Moves preserves totals it has observed, but a day may be unavailable if the app did not capture it in time. Unavailable does not mean you walked zero steps.

Can I use it without location?

Yes, the daily step counter remains usable with Motion & Fitness access. Location is needed for mapped recording and location-dependent planning. Notifications are also optional.

How do the three free recordings work?

Free includes three successfully saved map recordings in total. Discarded recordings and failed saves do not count. Deleting a walk does not give the allowance back. You can continue viewing saved walks after the allowance is used, including after a Pro subscription ends.

Why are planned steps approximate?

Step length and pace vary between people and walks. Reliable recordings improve personal estimates, but terrain, speed and sensor accuracy still matter. Learn how calibration works.

Can I count on a goal alert in the background?

iOS does not guarantee continuous step callbacks while an app is suspended. Optional reminders and progress feedback help, but an exact immediate background goal notification is not guaranteed.

Does local storage include a backup?

No. Walking history and identifying preferences are excluded from device and iCloud backups. There is no automatic cloud synchronization or Kai Moves recovery service. Deleting the app or losing your phone can lose your history. Read the privacy details.

Does it work offline?

Step counting, available GPS recording, saved history and estimates from saved distances can work locally. New map tiles and Apple walking directions may need a connection. Kai Moves does not promise a complete offline street map.

How will I manage Pro?

Apple will handle purchases and subscription management. The app includes restore purchases for eligible transactions. If Apple’s products are unavailable, Free access remains available. Pricing is shown on the Free & Pro comparison.
